Lighting is mood. Which room you’re in will reflect the mood and use of lighting. Kitchens, garages, and offices certainly need different lighting than the bedroom. Choice of lamps (light bulbs) and placement of fixtures can prevent or can create shadows which might create a mood that is conducive for the task at hand. Couple a lighting pattern with a dimmer and add dimension to your home or building.
For example, your kitchen needs task lighting (under counter) and general light (ceiling) both of which can’t be achieved by one centrally mounted fixture. Trying to light space from too few fixture locations will not succeed in creating the right mood.
